Currently, it is not possible to record a call directly using the PatientNotes iOS app during an active phone call.
This limitation exists because the microphone is directed to the phone call itself, meaning the iOS app cannot access the mic simultaneously. As a result, the session in PatientNotes will pause during the call.
Recommended Alternatives
If you need to record audio from a phone call, here are some options to work around this limitation:
-
Use Your Phone in Speaker Mode with a Second Device:
- Place your iPhone on speaker mode during the call.
- Use a second device (e.g., a PC, tablet, or another phone running PatientNotes) to capture the audio.
- Ensure the second device is positioned to clearly pick up the audio from the speaker.
-
Use Zoom or Other Virtual Meeting Platforms:
- Conduct your call through platforms like Zoom, where the audio can be recorded and processed by PatientNotes.
- This is ideal for virtual consultations or meetings.
-
Use a PC for VOIP Calls:
- For calls made through VOIP platforms (e.g., Skype, Google Meet), route the audio through your PC and connect it to PatientNotes for recording.
Future Updates
We understand the value of being able to record calls directly via the iPhone, and we are actively exploring ways to make this possible in future updates.
